History

"The Siberian cat has its origin from russian breedcats who mated wildcats from Siberia. Many different, new breed started that way but it was only a few of those cats, who were best
adapted for the rough climate, that survived. In the beginning of the 19th century, the mayor
of the siberian city Irkutsk had 17 cats. This catlover gave away kittens to his acquaintances and
friends. Though the information is meagre one can still understand that the original cats must
have been Angoracats.

The Siberian cat has very good resistance against infectiondiseases. It is also very proud and
beautiful. They often become steady couples and stay faithful to each other through the rest
of their lives. The coat often has a typical stripe pattern on the back and on the sides,
sometimes a marked M on the forehead, white paws and white colouring on neck and chest, with a
neat "collar" or mane and pantaloons on the legs, the fur is significantly longer on the sides
than on the back. Tufted ears, between the toes, and whiskers on the cheeks. The Siberian cat has
a very high intellect and they all have their unique personality. It can get deeply hurt and
show this by refusing to eat or ignoring its owner. Just like dogs, it often only respects one
familymember and can easily see who is the leader of the family. When the cat knows who that leader
is, it can tolerate most anything from him/her, the other familymembers are considered as
flockmembers and equivalent to itself."
